Colton is SEVEN!

Friday was Colton's birthday, and it felt like we managed to celebrate just in the nick of time!  He really wanted to go to school and be the Birthday Boy there, and that turned out to be the last day of school for a while!  Yay for a Friday the 13th birthday!

We did all our usual birthday stuff:
The birthday kid always gets to lick the cake batter!

He opened our presents to him first thing in the morning

(Camille in those jammies reminds me of cotton candy)

Camille and I brought cupcakes for his class to eat during lunch:

And then he had his party that afternoon.  I was worried that maybe we should cancel it because of all this quarantine stuff, but I finally decided since the kids had all been together at school, this one last hurrah couldn't really hurt.  I guess all the parents agreed, because everyone we invited came!
Opening presents with Walter, Alexandre, and Tyler.  Alexandre of THIS fame...!  I can't believe Colton invited him!

And here he is blowing out the candles on his cake:
I love how Camille, behind him, is wearing a bike helmet?

The party was kind of awful.  I'd forgotten that Colton is an unusually calm little boy.  The kids who came to the party were... not.  I had thought we could just let them watch a movie, but they kept wanting to stage wars and hurt each other.  I was very relieved when it was over!  And-- bonus-- no basement was flooded this time, so that was great!

The next day we celebrated with Tom and Donna:

So spoiled by his grandparents!

He was very excited about this hoodie-- especially when he discovered the joy of having both hands all snug inside a kangaroo pocket!

Bentley insisted he wear his hood the "right" way...

And he got right to work reading his new books!

And now we're all supposed to stay home, so I guess it's good he's got all these new toys and books to enjoy!

Happy birthday to my Sweet Colton!  What a wonderful seven years it's been, with so many more to look forward to!

Random Thoughts

-We've switched computers and now Craig and I both use Chrome.  On our old computer, we kept our accounts separate by Craig using Chrome and me using Firefox, so this is a bit of a change.  Mostly, the computer wants to always assume that I'm Craig, despite the fact that he hardly ever uses this computer.

-This really only manifests itself when it comes to blogs.  If I leave a comment on someone else's blog, it usually posts as Craig.  If I want to change it to me, I have to log out and log in again, which loses my comment.  And I'm usually too lazy to copy my comment and THEN log out and in and then paste in my comment.  What are the odds that anything I was going to say is worth all that work?

-And then, when I'm posting on my own blog (like right now), it wants it to be Craig posting.  When I switch over to me, Chrome oh-so-helpfully ALSO switches to my recipe blog?  Because apparently all a woman would blog about is food?  Google is stuck in the 1950s.  It's annoying.

-In case you were wondering, I have nothing much to say about coronavirus.  We're all stuck at home.  Even Craig.  Schools are shut down for the foreseeable future.  And I am totally okay with it-- I LOVE not leaving the house, and now I don't even have to feel guilty about it!  The real question is, How can I convince everyone that I also need to just stay in bed for the next month?  Dream. Come. True!

-I went to Costco this morning (not stocking up-- just my usual Monday morning Costco run).  I was nervous about how it would go, but everything was fine.  They asked that people limit their milk purchases to 2 gallons (I would have preferred 3, but I can go back), and I had to buy the more expensive eggs.  The only other difference was just that I saw so many people pushing carts that contained nothing but booze and toilet paper, and that made me laugh to myself!

-In totally different news, remember Lumpy, my ganglion cyst???  IT WENT AWAY ALL ON ITS OWN!!!!  My wrists look so normal and symmetrical and not freaky now!  I'm so pleased!  I didn't even need to shell out money for surgery!  Good job, Lumpy!  Way to go the freak away all on your own!  Good riddance!

-Colton's birthday was last Friday, and it will get its own post very soon.  But for now, I would like to note that we are finally out of Birthday Season, and I have 6 months to stop baking cakes and perhaps try to lose all the weight I just put on.  Or at least knock off a few pounds before I get into summer and all I want to eat is ice cream.  Every year the urge to just let myself go gets stronger and stronger...
