For All You Chefs (and Yes, You Can Laugh at Me for This)

How do you put potatoes into boiling water without splattering boiling water all over yourself and the stove top? I dread making mashed potatoes.

  1. I usually put the potatoes in the cold water and then bring them to boiling all together. Then you just have to watch the pot to keep it from boiling over.

  2. Michael taught me to do the same. I just to splatter myself every time! :)

I'm glad you asked though, the important questions in life must be addressed!

  3. I usually just put them in with superhuman speed, kind of like Clark Kent.

  4. I totally do what Natalie does (along with a little jump back with every plop!)

  5. I made mashed potatoes last week and put the potatoes in before the water was boiling - brilliant!

Any thoughts?
