Parenting Teenagers

We finally did it.

Bentley is now the EXTREMELY proud owner of a cell phone.

We made a deal with him several months ago that if he got all A's, he could get a phone at the end of the school year (rather than waiting until his birthday in September).  Of course, all those expectations changed with COVID, so we decided instead that he had to turn in all his assignments.  This was still no small feat-- despite county regulations mandating no more than 5 assignments per class, his math teacher still managed to give them over 30 assignments to do (?!?!?!?) and Bentley diligently did them all.

So!  Before school ended Craig got to work researching cell phone plans and ordering a new phone for me and figuring out how to clear my old phone.  On the last day of "school" we were ready and it was very exciting to present Bentley with his very own phone.  He couldn't stop grinning, he was so happy.  He has barely ceased texting all his friends ever since.

We'll see how much trouble this ends up causing me, I guess...

This is a screenshot of the video Craig took.  Look at that happy Bentley!

We had especially good timing with this, because bright and early the next morning, we loaded up the van and began the nineteen hour drive to...  TEXAS!
