Spring is Just Around the Corner...

We've had some truly lovely weather this week, so I'm guessing it will rain all next week when my parents are visiting.  At least, that's how these things usually tend to go.  They're also putting new internet wiring under our roads, and construction is supposed to start-- you guessed it!-- the day my parents arrive!  Perfect.

Anyway, on Monday it was warm and rainy, which made for a very different workout experience!  I'm not sure I would have gotten out of the car, but it was barely raining at that moment, so it seemed silly to wimp out right then.  And Raven, who was leading, made sure we didn't do any exercises that involved laying down in or splashing through puddles, so bless her for that!  As we kept going, it began to legit rain on us and we were all drenched by the end, but at least it wasn't freezing and the exercising kept us plenty warm.  So while it definitely wasn't my favorite thing, it wasn't too terrible, either.  And it made for a surprisingly pretty picture:

So glistening and sparkling!

But then when Wednesday and Friday were back to 30 degrees outside, it felt even worse-- BRRR!!!!  That is so much colder than 50!!!

For hiking club we finally managed to hike the trails at James Monroe's Highland!  Third time's a charm!  The weather was very chilly first thing in the morning, but by the end (and after some decent hill climbing) we were plenty warm!

We had a few minutes to kill when we first arrived, and the kids were THRILLED because they wanted to climb this magnolia tree in the parking lot

First bench!

Kendra took a picture of each kid on a rock!

Speaking of rocks...!

This was a fun hike!  And at just under four miles, it was very doable, but wore us all out perfectly.  We should sleep well tonight!

P.S. Bentley and Ryder get to go to school for the first time next week!  HUZZAH!!!

I’m so impressed with your hiking club and that you’ve managed to keep it alive and we’ll all school year!!! What a brilliant way to make lemons out of some lemons and make some wonderful memories with your kids!!
